Public Notice:  West Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation/Replacement Project

A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at the Mimslyn Inn, located at 401 West Main Street, Luray, Virginia 22835 beginning at 7:00 PM and ending at 9:00 PM, to present the environmental documentation and the preliminary bridge design for the federal aid project “West Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation/Replacement”.  The project is located on Route 211 Business (West Main Street) from the intersection of U.S. 340 and 211 Business 0.11 miles west to the intersection of North/South Hawksbill Street and 211 Business.  The project consists of replacing the existing bridge while rehabilitating the existing abutments and flood walls.   A backup day has been set for March 3rd, 2016 at the same location and time.  If inclement weather is forecasted, please visit the bridge website at www.luraybridge.com for information about rescheduling.

 

A Categorical Exclusion (CE) is being prepared for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). In compliance with the National Historic Preservation Action, Section 4(f), 106, and 36 CFR 800, information concerning potential effects of the proposed improvements on properties listed in, or eligible for listing in, the National Register of Historic Places is included in the environmental document. The environmental document will be available at the hearing and at the Town of Luray Office noted below until March 18th, 2016, for public review and comment.

Enclosed please find Project literature regarding the West Main Street Bridge Replacement Project in Luray, Virginia.  The packet includes a Project Brochure for the upcoming Public Hearing, as well as a comment sheet for use at any time during the process, and a Civil Rights Informational Survey.

 

You are receiving this information because you are either a resident near the project site, a property owner near the project site, or a significant participant in the project.

 

Please note that the Public Hearing for the Preliminary Design Plans and Environmental Document (NEPA) will be held:

February 25, 2016 7 – 9 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather that night, the meeting will be postponed until March 3, 2016, at the same time and place.  Notice of this postponement will be listed on the Bridge Website.
