Meet Chelsea Church, Standout Arts' Director of Communications and Outreach
September 20, 2026
Standout Arts is strengthening the communications expertise available to our clients with the addition of Chelsea Church as Director of Communications and Outreach beginning October 1, 2026.
Chelsea brings extensive experience in journalism, media, writing, communications and newsroom leadership to our team.
Chelsea currently served as News Director at WHSV in Harrisonburg and will conclude her role with the station before joining Standout Arts full-time.
For Standout Arts, Chelsea's appointment represents an investment in an area that has always been integral to effective marketing: knowing what to say, understanding why it matters to an audience and finding the most effective way to communicate it.
Experience From Inside the Newsroom
Chelsea's professional experience gives her a perspective that is particularly valuable to organizations navigating today's increasingly complicated media and communications environment.
As a journalist and newsroom leader, she has spent years identifying stories, evaluating information, interviewing sources, writing for large audiences, managing communications and making decisions about what warrants public attention.
She understands what makes a story useful to a journalist because she has been the journalist receiving those stories.
She understands what makes information newsworthy because she has helped make those decisions.
She also understands the importance of communicating accurately, clearly and effectively, often under significant time constraints and tight deadlines.
That experience will now become another resource available to Standout Arts clients.
What Chelsea Brings to Our Clients
As Director of Communications and Outreach, Chelsea will work across a broad range of client and agency communications needs, including:
- Media Relations: Helping identify opportunities, develop stories, communicate effectively with media outlets and strengthen relationships with journalists.
- Communications: Supporting clear, strategic communications across organizations, campaigns, initiatives and audiences.
- Content Development & Copywriting: Developing compelling written content for marketing, digital, editorial and communications applications.
- Storytelling: Identifying the people, ideas, accomplishments and experiences within organizations that can become meaningful stories.
- Media Management: Helping coordinate media opportunities, interviews, information and communications.
- Outreach: Supporting connections among clients, media, community organizations, partners and audiences.
- Client Care: Working directly with Standout Arts clients as another experienced member of the agency team available to help move their work forward.
Strengthening a Full-Service Agency Model
Chelsea's arrival also represents another step in the continued development of the Standout Arts full-service agency model.
Our clients rarely need one isolated marketing service.
A campaign may require strategy, creative development, media planning, digital advertising, photography, video, social media, public relations, email, website support and measurement. Effective communications help connect those pieces.
By adding experienced communications leadership to our team, we're continuing to build the kind of comprehensive and collaborative agency our clients need and deserve.
Looking Ahead
Chelsea begins full-time with Standout Arts on October 1, 2026, and we're looking forward to introducing her to more of our clients, partners and community in the weeks ahead.
For our clients, the biggest takeaway here is simple: Your Standout Arts team is getting stronger.
