The Standout People Behind Standout Arts: Gillian Tang
Project Manager & Graphic Designer
In this ongoing series, we're introducing the talented people whose creativity, dedication, and character help shape Standout Arts and the relationships we build with our clients.
At Standout Arts, we believe great creative work starts with great people.
Marketing strategies evolve. Design trends change. Technology continues to advance. But character, integrity, humility, and a genuine desire to serve others are qualities that never go out of style. They are the foundation of our team and the reason our clients place their trust in us.
Gillian Tang is a wonderful example of that.
As one of Standout Arts' Project Managers and Graphic Designers, Gillian serves clients in a variety of ways, including project management, client communication, marketing support, graphic design, organization, and creative collaboration. She is a thoughtful planner, an exceptional communicator, and someone who naturally brings order and encouragement to every project she touches. Those are qualities she readily credits to God.
"I do think those are gifts that God gave me in my personality, in my nature."
Gillian came to Standout Arts well-equipped with a strong educational foundation. Because she enjoyed art throughout high school, she chose to pursue a college major that combined creativity with design. While her formal education approached marketing from a different perspective than the work she does today, it prepared her well to continue learning and growing throughout her career.
"In college, I primarily learned marketing as it relates to graphic design. The rest I've learned on the job at Standout Arts," Gillian says.
As it turns out, Gillian is being characteristically humble when describing her educational background. Her studies included brand positioning, brand promotion, social media design, print design, advertising, publication layout, and many other aspects of visual communication.
"The marketing that I learned was very much oriented toward the design projects that I was doing. So, I learned a little bit about copy, a little bit about marketing standards. But it was definitely centered around brand-related projects and that type of thing. I did a lot of print projects and book layouts as well."
Since joining Standout Arts, Gillian has expanded that foundation through hands-on experience serving clients across a wide variety of industries. Every organization has its own mission, audience, challenges, and goals, providing opportunities to continually grow both professionally and creatively.
"It's just different getting out in the world, being exposed to people across a wide range of industries. I've learned all the moving pieces that go into marketing and advertising as a whole. And that's why I say I learned what I know about marketing on the job at Standout Arts."
One of Gillian's favorite aspects of working at Standout Arts is the collaborative culture that defines our team. While every team member brings unique talents and perspectives, everyone works toward the same goal of serving our clients well.
"I absolutely love collaborating with the other Standout Arts team members and working together. This group is positive, funny, and hardworking. Those are the three words that most naturally came to mind. I'm really, really grateful for our team members."
As much as Gillian enjoys serving clients and being part of the Standout Arts family, she is quick to point out that her career is only one part of who she is.
"Work to me is only one small facet of life. My core identity definitely comes from Christ and what He says about me and my place in society in the Bible. That's where my identity comes from, and that's where I find fulfillment."
Beyond her professional life, Gillian, who has been married to her husband, Kevin, for a little more than a year, considers being a wife and homemaker to be her primary vocation. It quickly becomes clear that this is where her heart truly shines.
"So much of the more eternal and meaningful work that I do day to day is actually for my husband, my home, and my future children. There are so many skills that go into that role that I've been learning over the past year, and it has opened my eyes to what an amazing role being a wife and mother is and how much work goes into it. It's not a small thing, and I appreciate the skills involved. The handicrafts, the cooking, the healing, caregiving, nutrition, and counseling. There are so many things that go into that role. I value those things, and I've realized that that's another way that I was designed to function in this world that God created."
Perhaps what best captures Gillian Tang's heart can be found in the three priorities she has established for her life:
To live a fulfilled life
"A fulfilled life for me looks like being faithful in good works, being a blessing to my family, and being a great helper for my husband."
To be a godly woman
"A woman who is faithfully living out the role that God has called her to have in her family and community, in love and other-centeredness. I think that's how I would succinctly say that."
To be a blessing to our clients
"I hope that we'll always be a blessing to our clients. I also hope that the work that we promote will have a positive impact on the local communities that our clients serve."
Those priorities are reflected not only in Gillian's work, but in the way she approaches every aspect of life. Whether she is coordinating client projects, collaborating with fellow team members, or caring for her home and family, she leads with humility, kindness, and a genuine desire to serve others.
At Standout Arts, we believe our clients deserve more than creative solutions. They deserve people who genuinely care about their success, communicate with integrity, and approach every project with professionalism and purpose. Gillian embodies those values every day, and we are grateful to have her as part of our team.
